Recyclable Parts of an Airplane<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

In the airline recycling industry, when a plane is\ndecommissioned, it is broken down into parts that can be reused or recycled. The\nmost valuable parts of an airplane are the engines and related mechanical\nsystems. Other parts that are dismantled include landing gears, electronic\ndevices, aluminum, wires, titanium and steel alloys, carbon fiber composites, and\nother metal components. The outer shell of the airplane is also valuable, and\nretrieved for repurposing applications. Non-metal airplane components are recovered\nas well, such as textiles, carpet, seats, foam, fluids, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Repurposed Airplane Parts<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

After the metal components are retrieved from a plane, they\ncan be melted down and repurposed into a wide range of new commodities, such as\ntelevisions, circuit boards, and computers. Other parts, like seats and\nplumbing, are reused in other commissioned aircrafts, so long as they are still\nin good condition and meet all industry requirements. In fact, it is becoming\nmore common, and even standard practice, to retire airplanes earlier than\nnormal in order to reuse parts. This has been proven to generate more revenue\nthan selling a plane intact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
